ABSTRACT

In order to better assist doctors in the diagnosis of dry eye and improve the ability of ophthalmologists to recognize the condition of meibomian gland, a meibomian gland image segmentation and enhancement method based on Mobile-U-Net network was proposed. Firstly, Mobile-Net is used as the coding part of U-Net for down sampling, and then features are extracted and fused with the features in decoder to guide image segmentation. Secondly, the segmentation of meibomian gland region is enhanced to assist doctors to judge the condition. Thirdly, a large number of meibomian gland images are collected to train and verify the semantic segmentation network, and the clarity evaluation index is used to verify the meibomian gland enhancement effect. The experimental results show that the similarity coefficient of the proposed method is stable at 92.71%, and the image clarity index is better than the similar dry eye detection instruments on the market.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#As solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) and hemangiopericytoma (HPC) share the same molecular genetics features, the 2016 WHO classification of central nervous system (CNS) tumors had created the combined term SFT/HPC and assigns three grades. This study aims to investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and prognosis of CNS SFT/HPC.@*Methods@#Seventy-one cases of CNS SFT and HPC were retrospectively reclassified and studied. Histopathological, immunohistochemical and imaging features were analyzed. The follow-up data were analyzed.@*Results@#There were 37 male and 34 female patients. The median age was 48 years (range, 3-77 years). Twelve cases (17%) were WHO grade Ⅰ, 26 (37%) were WHO grade Ⅱ and 33 (46%) were WHO grade Ⅲ. Microscopically the tumor could show traditional SFT phenotype, HPC phenotype or mixed phenotype. Immunochemically, 97%(69/71) were positive for STAT6, with 96%(66/69)showing diffuse strong staining. Approximately 90% were diffusely positive for bcl-2, CD99 and vimentin. The expression rate of CD34 decreased with increasing tumor grade, and the mean expression rate was 78%. SSTR2a was variably expressed in 10% (7/71) of cases including one case showing strong cytoplasmic staining. A few cases expressed EMA, CD57 and S-100 focally. The Ki-67 index ranged from 1% to 50%. Thirty four patients were followed up for 8-130 months; 12 patients(35%)had recurrences, and two (6%) had liver metastases.@*Conclusions@#CNS SFT/HPC is relatively uncommon. There was significant morphological overlap or transition between different grades. STAT6 is a specific marker for the diagnosis of this tumor. Surgical resection is the preferred treatment. WHO grade Ⅱ and Ⅲ SFT/HPC show rates of local recurrence and systemic metastasis, with liver being the most common site of extracranial metastasis.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To investigate the effects of Lokomat robotic-assisted gait training combined with drop foot stimulator on gait function in patients with stroke. Methods Thirty-six stroke patients were randomly divided into control group (n=18) and observation group (n=18). Both groups received routine rehabilitation training. The control group accepted Lokomat robotic-assisted gait training, while the ob-servation group worn drop foot stimulator in addition. The training intensity was 30 minutes every day, five days per week for 6 weeks. Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Lower Limb (FMA-LL), Functional Ambulation Category (FAC) and footprint analysis were used to evaluate the motor ability of lower limbs, walking ability and gait before and after training. Results There was no significant difference in the scores of FMA-LL, FAC and gait parameters (walking speed, stride width, stride length difference) before training (t<0.765, Z=0, P>0.05). The scores of FMA-LL, FAC and walking speed improved, and the stride width and stride length difference decreased after training (t>2.190, Z>3.630, P<0.05). After training, the scores of FMA-LL, FAC, walking speed and stride length difference were better in the observation group than in the control group (t>2.030, Z=-2.560, P<0.05), however, there was no significant difference in stride width between two groups (t=0.570, P>0.05). Conclusion Lokomat robotic-assisted gait training combined with foot drop stimulator could improve the lower limb motor func-tion and gait ability in patients with stroke, and the effect might be better than using Lokomat robotic-assisted gait training only.

ABSTRACT

Angiopoietin-like proteins are a family of proteins that are closely related to lipid, glucose and energy metabolism, as well as angiogenesis. To date, eight Angptls have been discovered, namely Angptl1 to Angptl8 that play key roles in metabolic regulation and marker assisted selection. In this review, we summarized current progress on the structure, signaling pathways, upstream regulatory genes and metabolic network of Angptl1-8. Finally, in combination with our work, the status and problems of animal breeding as well as the future prospects for Angptls were discussed.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of hyperbaric oxygen on learning and memory ability in rats with a model of VPA autism and on the pyramidal cells in the CA1 region of the hippocampus. Methods An animal model of autism was established in the offspring of Wistar rats which had received a single intraperitoneal injection of sodium valproate at the 12.5th day of pregnancy.A total of 48 male VPA autism model rats were randomly divided into the hyperbaric oxygen group,a high pressure air group,a normal pressure high oxygen group and a normal pressure air group (each group with 12 rats).A normal control group was obtained by injecting physiological saline. The autism model rats of the hyperbaric oxygen group were treated with high pressure oxygen in an animal experiment cabin which was cleaned with pure oxygen for 10 min, pressurized for 15 min, held at 2.0 atmospheres absolute (ATA) for 45 min and then had the pressure relieved over 15 min.For the high pressure air group the cabin was pressurized with air for 15 min, held at 2.0 ATA for 45 min and the pressure was relieved over 15 min.For the normal pressure, high oxygen group the cabin was cleaned for 10 min with pure oxygen, then pure oxygen was supplied for 1 hour with the cabin door open. The normal pressure air group rats were placed in the open cabin with no pressure or additional oxygen. The testing lasted 7 days for 1 hour per day.The normal control group rats were placed in ordinary cages.Learning and memory were evaluated using the Y electric maze test before and after the interventions.Any changes in the pyramidal cells in the CA1 region of the hippocampus were observed after hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining. Results The average number of tries of the hyperbaric oxygen group after treatment was significantly less than before treatment and memory retention times were increased. The number was also less in the normobaric hyperoxia group and memory retention times again improved. The number of apoptotic cells was reduced and the number of normal form cells in the CA1 region increased after the hyperbaric oxygen intervention. Conclusions The learning and memory abilities of the autistic rats improved after the hyperbaric oxygen intervention.Pyramidal cells in the CA1 region proliferated and the number of apoptotic cell decreased. This may be the mechanism by which hyperbaric oxygen intervention treats autism.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to clarify the structure-activity relationship of anti-tumor activity of diosgenin derivatives in vitro. Study has found that diosgenin can inhibit the reproduction of tumor cells by inducing apoptosis and the main target spot of this effect is Bcl-2. Based on the characteristics of pharmacophoric points' of the three-dimensional pharmacophore for Bcl-2 inhibitors, we have docked lots of diosgenin derivatives with Bcl-2, then synthesized 31 compounds of them, finally assessed the anti-tumor activity of the diosgenin derivatives in vitro against A375, A549, HepG-2 and K562. Preliminary studies of SAR have indicated that the aliphatic esters, and aromatic esters of diosgenin without F ring have no anti-tumor activity in vitro. The triazole bromides of diosgenin all achieve fairly good anti-tumor activity in vitro, and those with larger hydrophobic group have the better activity. The stronger is the hydrogen bonding interaction and dipole-dipole interaction of the heterocyclic of diosgenin and diosgenin without F ring and the acid ester of diosgenin without F ring, the better is the activity of derivatives.
